I’ve always believed that a wedding ring is like a little window into your personality. What you choose to wear on your finger every day of the week can be a subtle or not so subtle statement about where you’ve been around the world, the heritage of your family or the dreams you have for the future with your new partner. I love hearing the stories behind a ring, especially if the ring itself was a complete surprise. At least once a week, someone (usually a barista when I’m fumbling through my bag for my coffee card) compliments my wedding ring and I am always thrilled to tell them that my husband picked it out entirely on his own without my help at all. And that is pretty unusual for me not to have a say in something so significant, but I have to give him all the credit. Nice job, hubs! He just knew me so well, that it wasn’t difficult at all for him to take one look at the ring and say, “that’s it.” Now, my ultimate favorite stories have to do with the ring going into hiding before the proposal. A ring can quickly burn a hole through a pocket, so it’s quite humorous to hear the lengths taken to keep it a secret! So I’ll say this, never take a ring for it’s face value – it has its own story to tell.
